Lascelles in apology to his stopper

-

JAMAAL Lascelles has said sorry to goalkeeper Martin Dubravka following their verbal spat at Wolves on Monday night.

The captain lashed out at Dubravka after he felt the goalkeeper had dropped the ball in the dying seconds of the game.

However, Lascelles (below), speaking at the club’s training camp in Spain, said: “It was not necessarily to do with him, it was just to do with everything.

“They scored at that minute but when I looked back at it it was as clear as anything that it was a foul.

“So I apologised to him and I should not really be doing that to him.

“I hold my hands up but at the same time I have a job to do.

”I do not have the armband because I am technically the best or gifted.

“It is because I am honest and I am hard-working. I will not change in that aspect.”

Rafa Benitez held the team’s final training session in La Finca yesterday morning with the English media allowed full access.

Benitez and his players then mixed with the media at the team hotel.

They will round off their short trip to Spain with a friendly against CSKA Moscow today with the game set for just 90 minutes rather than the three periods of 45 minutes they opted for in a similar friendly last year.
