A scorching tale

-

EVERYONE’S favourite accident-prone dragon, Zog, is getting ready to tread the boards in a new UK tour.

The stage adaptation is the latest dramatisation of a book written by Julia Donaldson and Illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the UK’s number one picture book pair – best known as the creators of The Gruffalo.

Large in size, and keen in nature, Zog is eager to win a golden star at Madam Dragon’s school, where dragons learn all the things that dragons need to know. Zog tries very hard, perhaps too hard, and he bumps, burns and roars his way through years one, two and three.

Luckily, the plucky Princess Pearl patches him up ready to face his biggest challenge yet… a duel with a knight, Sir Gadabout the Great! But will he be victorious?

Zog promises to be a roaring success and fun for children of all ages. Produced by Freckle Productions and Rose Theatre Kingston – where it had its premiere – the cast features Elliot MacKenzie in his professional debut as Zog, Emily Benjamin as Princess Pearl, Robert Ginty as Sir Gadabout the Great and Euan Wilson as Madame Dragon, who will be bringing the world of Zog to life with the help of puppets. Zog was first published in 2010 and won the Galaxy National Children’s Book of the Year Award, before going on to become a perennial bestseller.
