NEWCASTLE United legends are teaming up again as they meet diehard fans to tell their inside stories about the club’s glory days.

Fullbacks David Craig and Frank Clark are making star appearances at a talk-in to celebrate their time at St James’ Park.

The pair played together for the black and whites for 13 years and have plenty of stories to tell.

Clark and Craig both signed for the club in 1962. Craig left in 1978 and Clark in 1975.

The pals saw the greatest time in Newcastle’s history when they won the Fairs Cup in 1969. It was the last time Newcastle United brought home any silverware.

The talk-in has been organised by the Fairs Club, who formed to celebrate the club’s glory years.

It is being held in Wallsend Labour Club, Camberley Road, Wallsend, North Tyneside, on Thursday, March 14, starting at 7.30pm.

Other Newcastle legends have also been invited.

Bill Gibbs, founder of the Fairs Club, of Wallsend, said: “It will be a fabulous night. We decided to celebrate with the great fullbacks David Craig and Frank Clark and their 13 years they were at Newcastle together.

“Other fullback Ron Guthrie, centre forward Ron McGarry and George Dalton who played in the early 60s will also be there, and there will be other surprise guests.

“It will be a night to remember. We had 220 tickets printed and we have a few left.”

The night will be hosted by Chronicle columnist John Gibson, who is the president of the Fairs Club.

Secretary and treasurer of the Fairs Club, Harry Watson, also of Wallsend, said: “We have worked for a long time to get Frank Clark and David Craig together to headline a show and we have now got them.

“They have some great stories to tell and I’m sure John Gibson will get the best out of them.”

Clark played in over 400 games for Newcastle United between 1962 and 1975 before moving to Nottingham Forest where he won the European Cup.

After retiring as a player, he managed Leyton Orient for nine years, followed by a two-year spell as the club’s managing director, and then returned to Nottingham Forest as manager between 1993 and 1996. He then managed Manchester City for just over a year.

Craig joined Newcastle United in 1962 and went on to make 412 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals. He left the club in 1978 after retiring from the game, and remains seventhhighest appearance-maker for the club.

Tickets for the talk-in cost £10. To buy them call Harry on 07985198222 or Bill on 07812935195.
