TED the Poodle is at it again as he features in a prestigious pooches portrait gallery.

Ted, whose proud owner is Darren Hall, visited London to see a picture of himself hanging in the exhibition – the capital’s first National Paw-trait Gallery, designed especially for fourlegged-friends, with works hung at both human and dog-eye level.

The exhibition, which commemorates famous, inspirational and talented dogs from around the globe, marks the launch of Facebook Watch’s bid to find the ‘World’s Most Amazing Dog.’

It took place earlier this month at Protein Gallery in Shoreditch and donning the walls where photos of iconic dogs past and present, featuring the likes of Laika, the first dog sent into space, Lassie, Blue Peter’s original dog Petra and Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis.

Joining them in the hall of fame were inspiring portraits of some of the nation’s dogs with disabilities, as well as snaps of doggie influencers racking-up followers on social media – which included Ted.

Dog photographer Darren, 42, of Gosforth, Newcastle, with his best mate Ted, a six-year-old miniature poodle whose full name is Edward Montague, won acclaim after scooping the title of Photobox Instagram Photograph of the Year 2018.

He also received a judges special mention in the Kennel Club Dog Photographer of the Year 2018 competition and shortlisted for a British Photography Award 2019.

And Darren took Ted on a trip to London to see his picture hanging in the exhibition.

Darren, who is engaged to Caroline Greener, 42, said: “I was thrilled when I was asked if Ted would like to be included in the first National Paw-trait Gallery.

“Ted comes everywhere with me and we love going to dog-friendly places together – an exhibition of dogs for dogs sounded right up my street.

“Naturally, I had to go and see the gallery with my own eyes as well as taking the poodle along to see himself in his first London show. The gallery features some of the most iconic dogs through history such as Lassie, Laika the queen’s corgis and many more.

“Ted is in the ‘influencer’ section where he is known for a picture of him winning the Photobox Instagram Photograph of the Year 2018. His photo came first from over 180,000 entries and winning a rather nice price of £5,500.

“Some of the highlights of the National Pawtrait Gallery for me are the pictures of the disabled dogs which I found very moving and also inspiring to see the great expressions and fun in these dogs that have clearly not had the easiest of lives.

view. I took the image used in the Paw-trait Gallery on Low Newton Beach in Northumberland on December 28, 2018. We were blessed with some beautiful sunshine and Ted was enjoying playing on the beach and jumping for joy. I use a yellow ball as it compliments the blue landscape perfectly.

“It was great and a real sense of achievement to see my photograph of my best mate displayed amongst some truly iconic images. I launched my own dog photography business recently – wigglebuttphoto.com – to offer other people the chance to get images of their dogs the only way I think dogs should be photographed, outdoors, having fun and looking sensational.

“Dogs are an essential part of our lives and our time with them is far too short. I always say you need to try and do something with your life that leaves your mark behind and prove that you were here. It appears that my dog is currently leaving a bigger mark behind him than me.”

World’s Most Amazing Dog on Facebook Watch was a new interactive global competition series that celebrates entertaining dogs and their owners. The winner will scoop $100,000 (£77,000).
