With five matches remaining, Durham Cestria lead Hartlepool by nine points, South Shields two points further behind.

Cestria were in League Cup action, progressing to the semi-finals after winning 6-0 at Consett.

The treble-chasing Cestrians took control in the first half, going in at the break 4-0 up.

The other semi-final features Premier Division York City at home to Ossett United.

Cestria, with their 100% record still intact, are at Farsley Celtic on Sunday while Tynedale host Hartlepool United.

In the Northern Division, Leaders Redcar Town are closing in on the title after edging out Washington 3-2.

The Wearsiders took a fourth-minute lead through Courtney Clark before Kenzie Parkes equalised after 22 minutes.

Jenny Dixon put Redcar in front seven minutes into the second period, Suzanne Fox increasing the advantage to 3-1 on the hour.

Alexis Prest made it 3-2 ten minutes later before Jessica Round missed a penalty for Redcar.

Town are at Prudhoe Town on Sunday, knowing a win could crown them champions should Consett not prevail at fourth-placed Washington.

Consett need to win all their six matches, including against Redcar, while hoping the leaders lose a match before their encounter.

Prudhoe Town lost 7-5 at Norton and Stockton Ancients Reserves.
