Nines’ teams hoping to be a qualified success

THE qualifying groups for the Newcastle Under-Nines competitio­n continue on Tuesday at Benfield School, the action starting at 3.30.

Favourites St Alban’s will be in action and Byker and Walkergate are also expected to do well. ■■THE Durham Under-11 Inter Associatio­n League has resumed.

Newcastle still lead the way following a draw with East Northumber­land A and a hardearned 1-0 victory over Sunderland.

North Tyneside B won both their games to move into second place.

The action will continue on Thursday, March 28, at Walker Riverside Academy. ■■THE Newcastle Under-11 Girls’ West League will come to a conclusion next week with action on Monday and Thursday.

Farne are currently top ahead of St Mark’s.

The top two will go through to meet the top two from the East Group on Champions Final Night. ■■DURHAM Under-18s host neighbours Northumber­land in the Northern Counties Championsh­ip on Monday as they compete for the Derek Watson Memorial Trophy.

The action will take place at North Durham Academy, Stanley (8.15). ■■THE Durham County Futsal Finals took place at Sunderland AFC’s Beacon of Light.

The winners were: Under-13s Tanfield School (Chester-le-Street, Washington and Derwentsid­e SFA). Under-15s - North Durham Academy, Stanley (Chester-leStreet, Washington and Derwentsid­e SFA).
