Griffins feel the Force of a triumphant Kenton

THERE was a close battle between Kenton Force and Newcastle East Griffins in the Under-18 Division of the Eagles’ Communty Foundation’s Central Venue League.

The Force edged home 51-48 to remain unbeaten at the top of the table with a 5-0 record.

North Shields defeated Walbottle Wizards B 37-27.

Kenton Force lead the Under-12 Fletcher Division and took their record to 12-0 with two victories.

They first saw off Newcastle East Griffins 25-19 and then doubled up by defeating Kingsmeado­w Royals 21-15.

Newcastle East Griffins bounced back to beat Morpeth 21-10 while the Royals’ misery was completed as they lost 16-14 to Cardinal Hornets A.

Morpeth tied a great game 12-12 with South Tyneside.

Cardinal Hornets A were also double winners, following up their narrow success against Kingsmeado­w by defeating Tyne Met Tigers A 23-11.

South Tyneside were also unbeaten as they added an 11-2 victory over Gosforth Goliaths to their draw with Morpeth.

That left Gosforth winless after they also lost their second game 7-4 against Tyne Met Tigers A.

Under-12s Moses Division leaders Tyne Met Tigers B moved to a 12-1 record for the season, registerin­g victories over Ryton Rockets (19-2), Cramlingto­n Vikings (26-4) and North Shields (22-13).

Ryton also went down to Cardinal Hornets B 29-22 and North Shields 22-9 in a disappoint­ing weekend.

The Vikings also lost 22-1 to Cardinal Hornets B but snatched a 16-16 draw with Walbottle Wizards.
