TOO MUCH TELLY DULLS MEMORY

WATCHING telly for more than three-and-a-half hours a day could seriously damage your memory, experts have found.

In telly addicts aged over 50, the ability to recall words of can diminish at almost twice the rate of those who watched less TV, the research from University College London said.

Memory declines as part of ageing, so researchers could not say everyone glued to the box is affected in the same way. But they argued that being a couch potato stopped people doing more stimulating activities such as reading and exercising – which aid memory.

AUSSIES SWEAR BY IT

THE wondrous Grahams Natural Eczema Cream (£15.99; lloyds pharmacy.com) has been soothing eczema in Australia for almost two decades, and now the emu oil-powered balm is coming to the UK.

It was created after Geoff Graham wanted to prevent his son suffering the same pain and discomfort which the debilitating skin condition had caused him throughout his own childhood.

The steroid-free cream has an army of dedicated fans Down Under who praise its hydrating anti-itch benefits.

PREGNANCY ADVICE CHANGES

DELAYING pregnancy for a year after a stillbirth is unnecessary, a study in the Lancet suggests.

Women are currently told to wait 12 months, but research looking at 14,000 births found there was no greater risk if conception happened earlier.

One-in-225 UK deliveries ends in a stillbirth. The rate has been falling gradually since 2000.

EXERCISE MAY HELP FIGHT CANCER

EXERCISE could help prevent bowel cancer returning for thousands of patients.

Researchers found short, sharp bursts, known as high intensity interval training (HIIT), can help reduce inflammation and curb cancer cell growth.

Around 42,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year.
