LEADERS Newcastle University hold an 11-point lead from joint second-placed Killingworth and Newcastle Blue Star.

The Students claimed a 5-1 home win over bottom club FC United, Killy and Star both recording big victories on the road.

Keith Douglas rifled home three goals for Uni, Niza Chilufya and Lee Scott also netting with Michael Watson providing the consolation.

A late brace from Dan Stevenson enabled Killy to wrap up the points in a 4-1 success at New Fordley.

Leighton Hopper opened the scoring with his first for the club and Konner Lamb added the other.

Keith Graydon pulled one back from the spot with 20 minutes remaining.

Blue Star played on Friday night, hosts Whitley Bay A probably wishing they had not changed dates as the Star romped to a five-goal interval lead and added two further counters in the second period, winning 7-0.

Richard Coulson nabbed a hattrick while Mitchell Ramsay, Shane Brooks, Shaun Kirkup and Alex Hline also notched.

The games at North Shields Athletic, at home to Percy Main, and Seaton Delaval, against Wallington, finished in 2-2 draws.

Ponteland claimed a 2-0 home result against Alnwick.

Antony Ridley and Paul Collinson afforded Main a two-goal cushion inside 20 minutes but Athletic fought back in the second period to claim a share of the spoils through Jonathon Coulthard and Phil Watson.

A brace late in the first half from Kyle Reardon had Wallington ahead but they were also pegged back in the second period when Usman Ogidan and Stephen Lucas hit the target.

Two goals late in the second period - Mason Stevenson just past the hour and Louis Calvert from the spot in stoppage time - gave Pont the points against Alnwick.

Five goals were netted at Gateshead Rutherford and Newcastle Chemfica, the former prevailing 3-2 against Shankhouse and the latter losing by the same scoreline against Gateshead Reserves.
