POEM OF THE DAY

A hard lesson to learn

-

COME my dear son and sit with me Here by my side on the settee

To learn how your future will be

For it is time for you to learn

What it means to be a Geordie

First and most important is to learn How to get along

For the disappointment that lies ahead You must be strong

Yes you must be prepared

For supporting Newcastle United Takes a special kind of man

Soon I will take you to St James’ Park At least that is my plan

You will have heroes wearing the number nine shirt

And many times you will experience the hurt

Just expect the worst and hope for the best

And whatever the outcome will put you to the test Sometimes you’ll wonder why do I support that team

When for success you can only dream Well as you grow up supporting that team as you should

You will learn it is in your blood Now you may never see them win the FA Cup

But like fifty thousand other fans You will always turn up

So soon you’ll be going on a journey With many twists and turns

The love for that team in your heart burns

And so my son we will start on our journey

Though it may seem barmy

But you will know why when you hear that sound
