Bruce will be a success, says Seagulls’ boss

-

Graham Potter BRIGHTON boss Graham Potter has backed Steve Bruce to make a success of his time as Newcastle manager.

Potter brings his Seagulls side to St James’ Park on Saturday as both sides look to add to the one win they have managed to pick up from their opening five Premier League games.

Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday side ran out 3-1 winners over Potter’s Swansea earlier this year in the only meeting between the pair as managers, and they will face off against each other for the first time in the Premier League on Saturday.

And Potter is confident Bruce will make an ‘impact’ as Newcastle boss and steer them clear of relegation trouble.

“Steve Bruce has his teams well organised and competitive with quality,” he said during his pre-match press conference.

“I think he’ll have an impact at Newcastle too, he’s a talented manager with a lot of experience.

“He knows the game, tremendous experiences, tremendous successes.

“He turned Sheffield Wednesday around and I think he’ll do well at Newcastle as well.

The Magpies head into the clash on the back of a heartening display at Liverpool - despite suffering a 3-1 defeat. tHe tea-time kick off in the Premier league this weekend features Newcastle against Brighton.

the Magpies come into this on the back of a 3-1 defeat to liverpool, while the seagulls could only manage a draw at home to Burnley in their last outing.

Newcastle started brightly against the Reds last saturday lunchtime, taking the lead early on, but were ultimately outclassed.

However, they performed well in defeat against the champions of europe, and may take heart from the loss at anfield heading into this coming weekend.

the Mags managed to craft a few chances away from home and, had they been more clinical, could have made the game a bit more of a tense affair for the home crowd.

Brighton pose an arguably weaker challenge, and three points will be the target.

Newcastle to earn the victory is 13/10.

Both teams to score could be of interest as Brighton have conceded in four of their last five, while Newcastle have done so in five of six this campaign.

the home side have shown enough to believe they’ll score, and Neal Maupay has been firing for Brighton since arriving from Brentford over the summer. Both teams to score is 10/11.

Of their past five fixtures, Brighton have been drawing at half time in four of them.

a draw at half time is 17/20, but what could prove more interesting is the half time-full time market.

a draw at half time with Newcastle going on to win in the second half is 5/1, and the last time Newcastle beat Brighton, it was courtesy of two second half goals.

Four goalscorers have contributed to Newcastle’s five goals in all competitions, but Joelinton is the only one to score more than once so far this campaign.

the Brazilian striker is 9/5 to score anytime.
