CITROEN is to add a host of equipment upgrades to its sevenseat C4 SpaceTourer family model from next month and is opening the order book today.

In addition to the extra standard kit there will be an ultra-economical addition to the engine line-up.

The new 1.2-litre petrol engine will generate a power output of 130bhp and can be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission system.

From October production there will be three new trim levels, with the Touch Edition, Feel and Flair versions replaced by Touch Plus, Feel Plus and Flair Plus, each new trim boasting an enhanced specification.

Citroen says the SpaceTourer is following the same trend as other Citroën models with most demand for upper trim levels boasting high levels of standard equipment.

Starting with the entry-level Touch Plus model, there will be a 12-inch high definition central display screen and Citroen Connect Nav as standard.

Citroen Connect Nav includes a three-year subscription to TomTom Live for real time traffic updates.

The system works via a built-in sim used for the Citroen Connect Box Emergency and Assistance System.

Unusually this does not require the use of any smartphone data to access the TomTom Live services.

Mid-range Feel Plus models will come with a host of additional features over the outgoing Feel trim level. These will include slate grey leather and black cloth upholstery, keyless entry and start, plus a rear parking camera as standard

There is also active safety brake, driver attention alert and speed limit recognition added to the list of standard safety features.

The new top-of-the-range Flair Plus trim level will replace the Flair version, which has accounted for half of sales so far this year. Xenon headlights will become standard equipment and active lane departure warning, intelligent beam headlights and active cruise control will be added.

The Grand C4 SpaceTourer was voted Best MPV in the 2019 Driver Power survey with an owner satisfaction score of just over 90 per cent.

Prices start at £25,935 for the entry-level six-speed Touch Plus, rising through £27,505 for the eightspeed automatic, and £27,200 for the six-speed manual diesel.

At the top of the pile are petrol and diesel versions of the Flair Plus model, with the most expensive being the eight-speed 160bhp diesel model at £34,560.
