HIGH HOWDON SC pocketed the Tommy Towers Team Knockout Championship - the last of the season’s competitions in the North Shields Snooker League - with a 169-120 victory over Heaton Meadowfield.
Played at King St SC, the final was contested over a three-frame aggregate score.
Gary Parkin got former champions Howdon off to a flyer with a comfortable 62-27 win against Chris Logan.
With all three frames played to the final black. the match between Michael Barsanti and Steve Graham could not have been closer Barsanti triumphing 72-60 to keep Meadowfield only 23 points in arrears.
With the singles, Six Reds and highest break prizes already under his belt, Howdon’s star performer Mark Livingstone came to the table to take on John Harper.
He never played anywhere near his best but still sealed the frame 47-21 to clinch the match victory.
■ ANY team or club wishing to join the North Shields Winter League should have a representative at the league’s annual meeting on Wednesday, October 16, at High Howdon SC (7.30).
■ NORTH Shields’ 15-year-old TJ Rendles (off 35) has become the first junior to win two of Whitley Bay SC’s main handicapped oneday pro-am competitions, beating Hartlepool’s Matthew Hudson (off 10) 3-2.
In a scrappy final, Rendles secured the first frame 84-35 and the second 69-41.
Hudson hit back to claim the third 87 (51-23)-39 and the fourth 68-57 before Rendles narrowly secured the decider 67-54.
