Work gets under way on leisure complex

-

WORK has started on a new multimillion pound leisure hub that will host a string of fun activities under one roof.

The Everyone Entertained venue, near the Royal Quays Shopping Centre in North Shields, will have virtual paragliding, adventure soft play, quest rooms, a laser tag zone and an active arcade in its main building.

There will also be a dome with a high and low ropes course, a climbing challenge and 18-hole dinosaur adventure golf.

The dome’s roof will be retractable and will be able to open in good weather.

In addition, the centre will offer food and drink, and a bar will operate from 7pm.

Planning permission for the project was approved by North Tyneside Council in February and now construction work has started at the site.

The venue is expected to open its doors to the public in summer 2020.

Everyone Entertained Ltd says the venture is expected to create more than 100 jobs.

Grant Wright, managing director, said: “We are very excited to be commencing work on our first site in the North East as our project enters the next phase of development.

“We are looking forward to seeing our innovative concept come to life as the work progresses, and to welcoming all our customers under one roof in the summer of 2020.”

The leisure hub is being developed at the site of a former health and fitness centre, which had been vacant since December 2016. It is next to the Evolution Football Centre.
