Trio sign fresh deals following season success

-

DURHAM Cricket have announced the re-signing of three members of their 2019 squad.

Liam Trevaskis, Jack Burnham and Stuart Poynter have all put pen to paper to remain at Emirates Riverside on two-year deals.

Trevaskis, 20, grasped the opportunity in 2019 as he became the county’s premier spinner across all formats.

In the One-Day Cup, the left-arm orthodox bowler excelled, bowling 42 overs at an economy of just 4.45 and took seven wickets in the process.

He backed that up by taking 12 wickets in the Blast, with an economy rate that ranked fifth out of bowlers who bowled in excess of 40 overs in the competition.

Burnham, 22, recorded four halfcenturies in the Specsavers County Championship as Durham narrowly missed out on promotion to Division One.

The former England Under-19 star contributed across all three formats and is looking to develop further in 2020.

Wicketkeeper Poynter captained the Vitality Blast side for the early part of the T20 season as Durham just missed out on the knockout stages.

The 28-year-old – who is just 11 first-class runs away from 1,000 – has made the decision to continue his county career, turning down the opportunity to further represent Ireland in international cricket.

Durham have already announced the re-signing of club captain and Australian international wicketkeeper-batsman Cameron Bancroft.

His form in the County Championship and One-Day Cup earned him a spot in his homeland’s Ashes squad, appearing in two Tests.
