Prize night a splash hit for winners
NEWCASTLE Swim Team hosted its annual presentation and awards night at the Newcastle Eagles’ Arena.
More than 300 swimmers and family members attended to look back over the achievements of the 2018/19 season.
The club also formally introduced Newcastle Physiotherapy as its 2019/20 sponsor.
Awards were given across all squads, a number of special awards also handed out.
In the Performance A squad, the Performance Award went to Lola Davison while Christa Wilson was voted most improved swimmer.
At B squad level, performance awards went to Laura Hodgson, Amelia Robertson and Izzy Winter, Sam Howell named the most improved swimmer.
Regional Squad performance awards went to Titus Pike and Izzy Dowden, most improved swimmer Aimee Shand.
Competitive Development One performance awards were handed to Jamie Hodgson and Zoe Scott and the most improved swimmer was Kemitha Mudalige.
For Competitive Development Two, Katie Noble and Ethan Williams won performance awards and Ellan Land was named most improved swimmer.
Performance awards at Competitive Development Three level went to Matthew Scott and Evelyn Hallissey, most improved swimmer honours to Johan Haniffa.
Skills Development One performance awards were handed out to Iona Murray and Harry Douglas, Molly Hoffman the most improved swimmer.
Skills Development Two award winners were Emma Blackburn, Robbie McLeod and Maddie Green and recognised at Skills Development Three level were Adrien Reay, Tom Hill and Claude Davies.
For the Dolphins, performance awards were claimed by Ayla Blight and Alexia Wigg, Ernie Bigg most improved swimmer.
For the fitness squad, Beatriz Luengo and Lily McCabe took the performance honours, Euan Bell most improved swimmer.
The Head Coaches’ Award went to Nick Pyle - the first Newcastle swimmer to compete in a World Championships - and Emily Large and the Open Water Award, sponsored by City Podiatry, to Adam Wilson (Performance B).
The Davison Distance Award, sponsored by Michele Davison, was won by Laura Hodgson (Performance A) and the Inspirational Award, sponsored by NESS, by volunteer Josh White.
Finally, fitness squad performance honours went to Beatriz Luengo and Lily McCabe with Euan Bell voted the most improved swimmer.
