Vulcans enjoy a Win bonus at Rutherford

ONLY one Premier Division match was played, Winlaton Vulcans sealing a narrow 2-1 win at mid-table Gateshead Rutherford.

Derek Waters opened the scoring in the 15th minute and Scott Palmer doubled it three minutes later.

There were no further goals coming until the closing stages as Joe Wrangham notched a consolatio­n, Vulcans holding on for the three points.

The two top-ten games in Division One finished in narrow wins for the home sides.

A Max Anderson brace helped Red Row come from two down inside 16 minutes to claim a 3-2 victory.

Rothbury defeated Whitley Bay Sporting Club 2-1, Tony Brown and Sam Proudlock scoring and Tom Atkinson with a stoppage-time reply.

Niall Younger netted the only goal of the game for Cramlingto­n United as they defeated visitors Forest Hall 1-0.

The spoils were shared at Wallsend as the Boys Club drew 3-3 with Gosforth Bohemians, a game which produced six different scorers including Nick Jarvis-Smith (Wallsend) and Josh Spurling (Gosforth).

Haltwhistl­e Jubilee, Newbiggin and Cramlingto­n Town continue to set the pace at the top of Division Two, all three collecting comfortabl­e home wins.

Greg Irwin notched three for Jubilee in their 6-0 home success over lowly Stobswood Welfare.

Stephen Lucas, Matty Nelson, Kyle Downey and Kev Halliday all netted for Newbiggin as they saw off Ellington 4-1.

John Campbell bagged a first-half treble for Cramlingto­n Town as they defeated visitors Seaton Sluice 5-1.

At Blyth both goals came in the opening 12 minutes as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Jesmond.

Adam Corbett’s double featured in Burradon’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle University A while Andrew Brown grabbed a late winner for Newcastle East End at Willington Quay Saints, the East End side edging proceeding­s 2-1.

Ponteland United Reserves continue to set the pace at the top of the Developmen­t Division as they won 4-1 at home to Red House Farm, Sean McDonald with a hat-trick.

Second-placed Gosforth Bohemians Reserves kept up the pressure with a 5-1 victory at home to Wooler Jason Corr claiming a second-half double.

Damian Stevens bagged a treble as Ashington Reserves triumphed 3-1 at Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs.
