DUBLIN MURDERS

BBC1, 9pm

JUST when you thought things couldn’t get any stranger in the curious incident of the kids dying in the woods – there was another twist.

A woman, the exact double of copper Cassie (Sarah Greene), was found murdered in the forest. Are they twins? What on earth is happening?

This episode begins with a really creepy flashback to what happened when Cassie’s parents both died.

In the present day, Frank (Tom Vaughan Lawlor) wants Cassie to go undercover as ‘Lexie’ in order to find her double’s killer, but she turns him down flat.

Meanwhile, the Katy investigation grinds to a halt and Rob (Killian Scott) focuses his increasingly disturbed mind on tracking down Jonathan’s two best friends from the past, who he is convinced hold the answers to both cases.

With everyone tortured by a traumatic childhood, a touch of what seems to be supernatural goings on, and plenty of death, this is a thrilling, gripping ride.

THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF

Channel 4, 8pm

IT’S the semi-final and the remaining four bakers are all looking slightly pale and nauseous.

Steph, Rosie, Alice and David must compete for the three places in next week’s final and a shot at Bake Off glory – and no doubt a book deal and TV show.

With the pressure ramping up a notch, it’s patisserie week and they must create eight elegant domed tartlets. “They are French pastries so we expect some of that je ne sais quoi,” says Paul Hollywood, helpful as ever.

Panicking, a couple of the contestants do what any sensible person would do – they add alcohol to the mix.

The technical is a Gateau St Honore, which looks like a mountain of profiteroles, described by Paul as “diabetes on a plate”.

And the showstopper is to make a sugar glass display case containing an edible depiction of something they hold dear. With the judging harsher than ever, that certainly won’t be Paul or Prue...
