Looking for amazing women

-

WHEN I joined the Sunshine Fund back in September I was eagerly flicking through our events calendars for the coming months and looking at which exciting projects and fundraising opportunities I was about to be a part of.

One of those events in particular stood out to me.

Every year, on an afternoon in late February, inspiring, confident and courageous women around the North East come together to celebrate each other’s accolades for The Sunshine Fund Glass Slipper Awards.

Our Glass Slipper Awards are a unique annual event that celebrates remarkable women across the region.

Boasting seven different categories, the awards recognise inspiring females, and honours their achievements in business, communities and charity.

This week we launched the categories and announced that the nominations for Glass Slipper Awards 2020 are now officially open.

Do you know an inspiring female colleague who you think goes above and beyond in their job?

Or do you have a friend that makes an outstanding difference in their community and simply needs to be recognised for their efforts?

Perhaps there is somebody in your life that you have watched in awe as their voice has made a significant difference to lives across the region?

The Glass Slipper Awards are the perfect place for you to nominate in one of our seven categories:

Remarkable Woman, Woman in the community sponsored by Reach plc, Unsung Hero, Outstanding Business Leader, North East Champion, Young Achiever and finally our lifetime

Achievement award.

For this upcoming Glass Slipper event our Unsung Hero Award is also sponsored by none other than our patrons Ant and Dec, who are involved closely with our charity and, of course, are huge supporters of the North East.

This particular award focuses on a person that makes a substantial, yet unrecognised, contribution to their local community through volunteering or community work.

They take time out of the work, family or home life to help others. They put other people before themselves.

They see strangers as their family and they want everyone to have a happy, comfortable life.

Does this sound like somebody you know? This is your opportunity to celebrate their achievements.

Head to our website to nominate an inspiring woman in your life. Nominations will close on Friday, December 6.

Following this, finalist shortlisting will take place in January and successful finalists and their nominators will then be contacted following the shortlisting.

I can’t wait to be involved in such a fabulous event, celebrating incredible and remarkable women in the North East – but for now, happy nominating!
