Samba game moved and Shields Kash in

-

NORTH Shields Community Christians moved their home match with Sunderland Samba to a 3G pitch at Walker Dome due to the wet weather - but still ran out 5-0 winners.

Within seven minutes the Christians had taken the lead, Todd Clarkson tapping home from close range.

Amin Kashy doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute, finishing well inside the box.

Scotty Purcell added a third on the 36th minute to cap a controlled first -half performance from Shields.

Samba battled hard in the second period but did not trouble the Christians’ goalkeeper, while at the other end Kashy nabbed his second and Shields’ fourth on 73 minutes - finishing well from close range.

Conor Morris rounded off the scoring on the whistle with a brilliant shot as the Christians stayed top of the table on goal difference.

The teams in second and third Stockton Churches Portrack and Hillsong Newcastle - met on Teesside.

The home side took the lead through Andrew Brown after 15 minutes.

The score remained 1-0 at half-time but James Walker equalised after 55 minutes and 10 minutes later it was 2-2 - Brown putting Stockton back in the lead but Walker again equalising.

Portrack’s winner came in added time thanks to Paul Brookes.

Portrack remain in second place 21 goals behind North Shields.

Another team who swapped grounds were Heaton Saints.

Their grass pitch was waterlogged so their match with Saint Charles RC Church was switched to Charles’ 3G pitch - and the move backfired as Heaton lost 6-1.

After eight minutes Ben Jackson netted for Saint Charles and a wellsaved penalty from Heaton goalkeeper Rob Clark kept his side in the game.

Five minutes later Tchaps Tanjong made it 2-0.

Jackson then notched his second and in the 40th minute Tom Martin made amends for his penalty miss with a 25-yard free-kick which he volleyed into the top-right corner for a 4-0 half-time score.

Three minutes into the second period, Andrew Howes increased the advantage to 5-0.

A stunning shot from Stuart Patterson put Heaton on the scoresheet 12 minutes from time.

A corner in added-on time led to substitute Duncan Falconer netting with the final touch of the game as Saint Charles moved into third place - Hillsong dropping to fourth.

Jesmond Parish Church sit in midtable after a 7-5 victory at Saint John’s Snod’s Edge - Dan McGrane and Jacob Teasdale with trebles.
