CHERBOBYL TRIPS ON THE RISE

INTEREST in tours to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster site in Ukraine has increased by nearly 300%, thanks to the success of Sky TV’s critically acclaimed TV mini-series Chernobyl which aired earlier this year.

The trips take in the sites around the former Soviet power plant that saw the largest nuclear disaster in history on April 26, 1986, with visits to the abandoned ghost city of Pripyat and the secret Soviet military radar base of Duga.

Chernobyl Exclusive Tours and Chernobyl Tour offer a range of visits, including day trips from the capital Kiev starting at $49 per person, and multi-night stays with accommodation in a Sovietstyle hotel in the disaster zone.
