BRITS IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL
THERE is no knowing when travel restrictions will be lifted and when it will be possible to fly again but that isn’t stopping Brits from dreaming of far-flung destinations.
Clicks on holiday price comparison site TravelSupermarket.com reveal that October and November 2020 are the most popular future departure months.
And British holidaymakers are browsing prices for cities like Las Vegas, New York and Orlando and white, sandy beach resorts in Mexico (Cancun), the Dominican Republic, Dubai, Jamaica and the Maldives
Of the top 20 most popular price comparisons until the end of the year, 12 are for long-haul locations compared to just three last April, a time of year when short-haul destinations would normally be of interest.
Despite this, the destination seeing the most package holiday price clicks for departures before the end of the year remains an old favourite: Benidorm.
TravelSupermarket’s Emma Coulthurst says: “With the pubs closed at home and talk of potential cheap beer prices on the Spanish coast in future, Brits appear nostalgic for a drink or three in the sun by the sea.”

While travel to Luxor is off limits, the country’s Ministry of Tourism has released a virtual tour of the 3,000-year-old burial chamber of Pharaoh Ramses VI, which is decorated with funerary inscriptions including the Book of Gates, the Book of Caves, the Ancients, and the Book of the Dead, along with landscapes and astronomical markings.
