Stability will be welcome at United – Fox

-

RUEL Fox is hoping Newcastle United fans will finally see some stability at St James’ Park in the shape of a proposed Middle East takeover.

The former Toon winger was part of the Entertainers era on Tyneside and knows how the good times can roll at United.

Fox, who was a £2.2million signing from Norwich City during a time when Kevin Keegan asked for and was given the best players on offer, admits the takeover saga is dragging on.

However, he hopes it will be worth it in the end

Fox said: “The main thing any player wants at a football club is stability.

“They want to know what is going on at the club.

“It just feels like a merry-goround at the minute.

“This takeover looks a little bit more positive than others but we are still a little bit on edge.

“Nobody wants to believe anything until it is done.”

Fox is desperate to see the ambition return to the club and, after being at Newcastle when they signed stars like Les Ferdinand and David Ginola, he remembers the Sir John Hall days fondly.

Fox, speaking on an Instagram Live with Newcastle Legends’ MD Steve Wraith, added: “Whether you love Mike Ashley or you hate him, the fact of the matter is he is at the club and has been running in it.

“Everybody would love a Sir John Hall involved but that has not happened.

“It is about getting the right people in who understand the football club.

“You can have owners in who can spend millions like Manchester City but if you don’t run it in the right way or play a certain way it is going to be difficult to win fans over.”
