Parents took to Facebook to voice their concerns.

Kristina Richards posted: “...its horrendous!! I understand schools are trying to do what they have to do to try and get kids back to school and in no way am I blaming the school or teachers as they are trying their best..but this is like a prison camp for kids... I hope it won’t be like this at all schools.”

Sam Perryman wrote: “Yeah definitely no way can a child not be allowed to go to the toilet at any time, it’s not right like xxx”

Nikki Brown said: “That’s horrid more like a prison camp rather than school no child going to enjoy school.”

Lucinda Davison posted: “Just been reading this, it’s crazy why they haven’t already been doing this because half the school’s still been attending school for key worker children hmmmm! Xxx”

Cath McEvoy-Carr, executive director of adults and children’s services at Northumber­land County Council, said the council will be working closely with schools to review the guidance provided by the Government, and how they can implement these new safety procedures and take the necessary precaution­s to ensure the safety of the children, their families and our employees.
