Getting Milo’s magic back
DAD STARTS DISNEYLAND FUNDRAISER FOR HIS SON FOLLOWING MUM’S DEATH
SCORES of people are helping to raise cash to send an eight-year-old boy to Disneyland following the death of his mum.
Milo Hesketh was left devastated after his mum Sian d’Ellard died of a health condition at the age of 27 last year.
His dad Nathan Hesketh wanted to give the youngster something to look forward to and started a JustGiving page to send him on a dream holiday. Around £2,000 was raised in just 48 hours.
Nathan, a recruitment consultant, of Byker, Newcastle, said: “Milo has been very low since his mum’s death. It
was quite possibly the most hardhitting thing that could happen to him.
“He was very close to his mum. They did everything together. “The past year-and-a-half has just been really tough for him. I just wanted to give him something to look forward to and to rekindle a bit of magic for him. “I wanted to give him an experience he would never forget.” The 31-year-old started the fundraising page with the aim of planning a once-ina-childhood trip to Disneyland Paris once the coronavirus restrictions are eased and it is safe to travel to the resort. He says Milo is looking forward to the trip and the fundraising has already had a positive effect on his mental health. Nathan has thanked all the people who have made donations.
“This is less about the money, more about the gestures,” he added.
“Just talking about the holiday has had a remarkable impact.
“Milo is known for being very compassionate and has an emotional nature. He has a really beautiful soul and everyone wants what’s best for him.
“I want to take him to Disneyland to help him establish his connection with human nature. And I want to thank everyone who has made a donation.”
