No positives for Toon in virus testing

-

NEWCASTLE United have received another clean bill of health with no positive Covid-19 results in the latest round of Premier League testing.

Just one individual out of 1,197 tested positive during the most recent batch of testing.

It is another encouraging set of results for the league, which reported no positive tests in the previous round.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a member of staff at their club has tested positive but is asymptomatic.

“Due to medical confidentiality, the individual’s name will not be disclosed,” Spurs said in a statement on their website.

The individual concerned must now self-isolate for a period of seven days.

There have now been five rounds of testing for Covid-19, and the total of positive results has increased to 13 from 5,079 tests.

Meanwhile, Amazon will make its four Premier League matches in the remainder of the 2019-20 season free to air.

The top flight has a provisional restart date of June 17, with all 92 matches due to be televised.

Sky Sports has announced 25 of its 64 matches will be free to air on its Pick channel, while the BBC has the rights to screen four games on terrestrial TV.

Amazon has now set out its plans for the 2019-20 season.

“Like the rest of the country, we are excited to see the Premier League return to action,” said Alex Green, MD Prime Video Sport Europe.

“We will be making all four of Amazon Prime Video’s additional fixtures in the 2019-20 season available free of charge; fans will not need a Prime membership to view the games on Prime Video.”
