Rose’s Toon loan deal is extended
NEWCASTLE United have agreed a short-term extension to Danny Rose’s loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur.
The England international is now clear to play in July and potentially the start of August in the event of United reaching the FA Cup final.
Rose joins Valentino Lazaro in committing to a short extension after a deal was struck with Inter Milan last week.
United are now hoping to agree extensions for Andy Carroll and Javier Manquillo.
A question mark hangs over Matty Longstaff’s involvement given that his deal due to expire on June 30 and he has yet to agree a new contract.
Rose joined United from Spurs until the end of the season when a £1.8million loan fee was agreed between the two clubs.
Steve Bruce would like to sign Rose on a permanent basis, while the former Sunderland loanee wants to make up his mind at the end of the campaign.
■ Former Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has secured a visa to return to China despite reported talk of a return to coach the Magpies.
Benitez coached Newcastle for just over three years and guided them to the Championship title and a top half Premier League finish during his time at the club.
But when his contract expired last summer, Benitez accepted a lucrative contract from Chinese club Dalian Professional, after disagreements with Mike Ashley over the future of the club.
With Newcastle subject of a Saudi-backed takeover bid, there has been talk of a possible return to the Magpies for Benitez.
However, the Spaniard can now return to China to finish the season there.
