What to do if you were going to run

-

WHAT to do if you have a Great North Run 2020 place and you want to enter in 2021.

Runners who have secured a Great North Run spot through the ballot can roll their entry over for the 2021 race.

To secure your place, complete the online form before August 1.

There is nothing further to pay and no ballot to enter - you will have secured your entry.

Those who have secured charity runner places will be contacted in the coming days or weeks by the charity they are running for.

Members with confirmed entry can roll their place into the 2022 Great North Run. Fill in the online form to confirm you intend to run in 2021.

Those who do not confirm they will run in 2021 will be refunded for their deposit.

If you have a Great North Run 2020 place but do not want to enter in 2021.

Organisers said: “If you do not wish to roll your entry over then you will receive a refund.

“Anyone who has not completed the rollover process before August 1 will be automatically refunded.”

If you have a charity space and do not want to run, contact the charity you are running for.

Can I give my Great North Run entry to somebody else?

No, Great Run says you cannot transfer your entry.

What about the Junior and Mini Great North Runs?

Places for the popular children’s event are always in high demand, so those who successfully secured a place in 2020 will be given a priority entry window in 2021 to make sure they don’t miss out.

Will there be a ballot for the 2021 Great North Run?

There could be but it is likely there will only be a few spaces, depending on how many runners decide to roll over their places.

What about the charity money I have raised so far?

Great Run said: “Fundraising is not administered by The Great Run Company so you should contact the charity you have signed up with or check the guidance on your fundraising website. Your donation is still important to the charity, though, possibly even more so at this time, and you have already put in the hard work in your training so do consider still giving them your fundraising.
