So True-ly grateful for the support of Potential

-

YOU may have heard Great North Run 2020 organisers have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

The Junior and Mini Great North Run which usually takes place over the course of the same weekend has also been cancelled.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic meant it was not possible to stage the event as planned this year.

Although this decision was not unexpected and fully supported by our team, it is still incredibly disappointing and a huge financial blow to our charity.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who signed up to the 2020 GNR with #TeamSunshine.

The good news is you can automatically roll your place over to next year and continue with your training and fundraising.

The 40th Great North Run will now take place on 12th September 2021 – if you would like to keep your place with us, you do not have to do anything..

Your place remains and you will be welcomed as part of Team Sunshine 2021!

To all of our amazing mini and junior runners, Great Run will be in touch with you directly to process refunds.

Not only is this week’s column dedicated to our fantastic runners who have been working so hard for this year’s event but our fabulous event sponsor True Potential LLP.

We have been overwhelmed with how kind and generous they have been.

Not only have they rolled over their support to be our GNR 2021 sponsor, they have donated a massive £4,500 to our urgent appeal!

Team Sunshine cannot begin to thank them enough for this incredible donation which will make such a huge difference to our children and their families.

We know with their support we will make GNR 2021 bigger and better than ever before!

True Potential Chief Executive Daniel Harrison said: “The entire Great North Run weekend is always a lot of fun and raises money for so many great causes.

“We were all really looking forward to it and while it is disappointing it had had to be cancelled we are not going to be beaten.

“We will be holding our own ‘Great True Potential Run’ in September so our employees can still raise money for lots of fantastic charities.

“As well as continuing our support for the Chronicle Sunshine Fund this year, we are looking forward to working together in 2021 and partnering again with Team Sunshine at the Great North Run, which will be even bigger and better.”

Each year the Great North Run raises around £25000 for our charity, enabling us to continue to provide specialist equipment to babies, children and young adults throughout the region that so desperately need our help, now more than ever before.

Your support and fundraising truly does make a huge difference to the lives of children with disabilities.

Although we may not be able to see #TeamSunshine cross the finish line this September, you can still fundraise for us through organising your very own virtual fundraising challenge.

We will support you all the way, so contact Ashleigh Allen ashleigh.allen@ reachplc.com to request a fundraising pack to help you get started.

If you signed up to be part of #TeamSunshine but you are unable to attend the event next year please contact Rebecca Jama to arrange a refund of your registration fees at rebecca.jama@ reachplc.com – alternatively you can still support us by donating the cost of your registration fee.
