AS introductions to the red carpet go, Saoirse Ronan’s was as high profile as they come. The Irish-American actress was just 13 years old when she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in war epic Atonement.
The teen chose a pretty green dress for the occasion, pairing it with a high pony tail.
In the years since, Saoirse has appeared in a string of critically acclaimed movies, including the Oscarnominated Brooklyn, Lady Bird and Little Women, hoovering up acting awards and nominations along the way. Her incredible talent and beauty mean that the 26-year-old can have her pick of designers when it comes to appearances and her mature choices belie her young years. Yet there is no ‘typical Saoirse look’. Prints, pastels, metallics, she can pull them all off. And when it comes to silhouettes, she is as likely to be seen in a column gown as a voluminous number.
We love it when she wears something slinky like the Yves Saint Laurent Couture gown she donned at the 2016 Golden Globes, while the emerald Calvin Klein Collection she wore for that year’s Oscars is one of our all-time favourites.
Now if only we could manage to pronounce her name correctly...
