WHEN Lauren Turnbull decided to move in with her boyfriend, she had a lightbulb moment about the sale of her house.

The bright-spark 30-year-old has put her two bedroom house up for raffle and she’s thrown her 2015 Range Rover Evoque in as well - all for a £1 entry fee.

Lauren met Glenn Smith, 30, seven months ago and their relationship grew during lockdown.

And, as life took a good turn for her, she hopes to give someone else a bit of luck too.

Quantity surveyor Lauren bought her home in the village of Hazelrigg, Newcastle, over a year ago and has revamped it to a high standard.

She is moving in with Glenn at his rented home in South Gosforth and hopes to make a tidy profit to give them a good start together.

She aims to sell 200,000 tickets which means £200,000 would be raised. Raffall, the competition app, takes 10% which means Lauren would be left with £180,000.

“I just thought with this year being so bad I really wanted to give someone a bit of good luck,” said Lauren.

“Three weeks ago my partner sent me a link of a person raffling a home and I though that was a great idea.

“I thought it would be a positive way to end the year and it will make the lucky winner very happy.

“I have worked hard all my life and put myself through university. I have my own house and a nice car and I thought if I raffle them, I could make someone else’s life better with a £1 raffle entry.

“I purchased the house in January last year and it was on the market for £97,500. I have had damp proofing done, I revamped the house, redecorated and have dramatically changed the garden.

“I threw the car in as well as an incentive. It is worth somewhere between £18,000 and £20,000. It would make a lovely prize to have a house and car.

“But you’ve got to be in it to win it. “The raffle ends on November 30 but if all the tickets sell sooner then so will the raffle.”

Lauren says on the Raffall website: “If you are my lucky winner, you will receive this well presented two bedroom semi-detached property, located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, along with a 2015 Range Rover Evoque Dynamic! The deal includes all legal fee’s and stamp duty.

“The property has been updated with modern deco throughout, with spacious rooms set out over two floors.”

She describes the property room by room and adds: “What sets this property apart from many others is the very large west-facing back garden, with a large grassed area and a good sized decking area.

“For the ambitious entrant, this property has so much potential for an extension to the side and rear of the property.”

It also says: “My 2015 Range Rover Evoque Dynamic is also included in the deal. It has currently (12/07/2020) just over 43,000 miles on, with full Range Rover dealer service history.

“The Range Rover Evoque Dynamic comes with everything you could want from an SUV including full leather interior, panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, rear reverse camera and sensors and so much more.

“Upon winning the prize, the title transfer of both the house and the car will go through a UK solicitor who will make sure that upon completion, the property and car will be free from debt or encumbrances.”

Lauren added: “If the 200,000 tickets aren’t sold then the winner will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales.

“It’s a win, win situation. But, as I said before, you’ve got to be in it to win it.”
