BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT: THE FINALISTS REVEALED
Tomorrow, ITV, 6.30pm
EARLIER in the year, viewers got to see the auditions, which were filmed shortly before lockdown began. The acts that made it through to the semi-finals have had an agonising wait.
Now Ant and Dec, as well as the judges, are back – albeit without a studio audience.
Simon Cowell is still recovering from the serious accident in which he broke his back, so his place on the panel will be taken by Diversity star Ashley Banjo.
PLANET EARTH: A CELEBRATION
Monday, BBC1, 8pm
HE turned 94 in May, but there’s no stopping national treasure Sir David Attenborough. Next month will see the cinematic release of his new film A Life on Our Planet. But before that, Sir David has teamed up with a gaggle of award-winning musicians for this retrospective aiming to “lift everyone’s spirits”.
The special programme brings together eight of the most extraordinary sequences from Planet Earth II and Blue Planet
II, with a stunning musical performance courtesy of composer
Hans Zimmer, Jacob
Shea, the team at
Bleeding Fingers, and Mercury Award-winning UK rapper Dave.
SHERIDAN SMITH: BECOMING MUM
Tuesday, ITV, 9pm
IN MAY, the heavily pregnant Sheridan Smith took a starring role in an episode of ITV’s Isolation Stories, a series of short dramas about different people coping with lockdown.
However, that wasn’t the only filming she took part in as she prepared to become a first-time mum.
This documentary finds the actress and singer and her partner Jamie telling the story of her pregnancy, and explores her struggles with mental health.
HARLOTS
Wednesday, BBC2, 9pm
THE second series of the period drama starts with a double bill.
In the opener, Lydia (Lesley Manville) finds herself in court facing the newly appointed Justice Hunt. She shouldn’t expect much support from Margaret (Samantha Morton) and Nancy (Kate Fleetwood), who are trying to find people to give evidence against her.
COUNCIL HOUSE BRITAIN
Thursday, Channel 4, 9pm
ACROSS the UK, the need for decent homes has never been so high. This six-part documentary series goes inside one of the country’s biggest public landlords – Southwark Council – following the people working to keep the operation running.
In tonight’s first episode, we meet housing officer Charmain, who looks after around 600 residents on her patch, including a resident who’s lost his key.
Elsewhere, lettings officer Debbie has a prized four-bed home available in Surrey Quays – and three families lined up as possible residents.
JAMES NESBITT: A GAME OF TWO HALVES Friday, ITV, 8pm
THIS year’s Soccer Aid match is due to take place at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium later this month.
Ahead of that, see how the £38m the event has raised since Robbie Williams devised the fixture in 2006 is being used. James Nesbitt is a Unicef UK ambassador as well as a fan of the Red Devils, so it’s a fundraiser close to his heart.
Here, he delivers essential supplies to youngsters in such remote places as the Himalayas, the desert surrounding the Dead Sea and a South Pacific island.
But as filming took place just as the global lockdown was kicking in, the journey proves to be far from straightforward.
