IN A new series for CBBC, space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock teams up with her daughter and ‘space apprentice’, Lori, to go on a rocket-fuelled mission to reveal the most incredible stories about space and how it’s changed our lives on Earth.

For Out of This World, Dr Maggie has spoken to Tim Peake, the first British astronaut to live on board the Internatio­nal Space Station, to learn how astronauts from different countries work, eat and play together in space. In the next episode, she will chat to Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut to travel into space, and who carried d out experiment­s on the Russian Mir Space Station.

It’s a facts-with-fun show, in which the super scientist explains s what The Space Race was, the key missions, and how the USA, competing against, then collaborat­ing with, the former Sov Soviet Union, got us to where we ar are today.

Space, she says, is for everyone, and humans have designed, built and sent things to space for more than 60 years, with w every epic mission pushing the th boundaries of the knowledge and understand­ing we hold about the amazing universe we live in.

In each episode Dr Maggie will answer young viewers’ questions like: Who owns the moon? How cold is space? And how many stars are there in the universe?

She will also focus on five top facts, including counting down her Top 5 Biggest Space Moments, and her favourite five firsts.
