We’re sharing the sunshine

-

HI Sunshine news readers!

We hope you are all keeping safe and well during these strange times. The news that the North East is now firmly under tier three restrictions has been a huge blow to us.

Many of our families who have been isolating for prolonged periods this year were looking forward to getting out and about, seeing family in a safe way and making Christmas memories with their loved ones.

Although Christmas will look very different this year, we hope that you are all able to share some special moments with those you love or take the time to do something special for yourself.

The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a charity who relies on donations, fundraising and events to enable us to continue our support of North East families.

Many of our fantastic, loyal supporters and donors are from the care, hospitality and events industries and it’s heartbreaking so hear of the economic impact of Covid-19 on these sectors.

Many are struggling and facing very uncertain futures. This is one of the reasons we have taken the very hard decision to postpone our Glass Slipper 2021 Awards due to be held in March until later in the year.

We have been overwhelmed by the nominations we have received recognising the achievements of women in our region, especially in our new Covid Champion category.

We want to share this event with you all and give these ladies their moment in the spotlight that they all truly deserve but we just didn’t feel we would be able to do that without the physical awards ceremony that our guests have come to know and love.

If you have made a nomination for the 2021 Glass Slipper Awards, don’t worry, your nomination is still valid and we will keep the nomination process open so that even more of you can put forward a friend, colleague or loved one.

We look forward to celebrating with you all later in 2021.

We have had some fantastic news this week that we wanted to share with you all – we have been chosen as Cintra HR and Payrolls Charity for the Year for 2021 and work is already under way to plan our partnership together.

Cintra have supported the charity through our annual Sunshine Run 5k and volunteering for some time. Regular readers will remember that they helped us create our 2019 Santa Bus with Stagecoach which our families loved.

We know Team Cintra love Christmas as much as Team Sunshine, so we are looking forward to working with them all again, especially on next year’s festive shenanigans!

And of course they have kicked their fundraising off with Christmas Jumper Day – look out for their photos!

Lots of love,
