MP urges league chief to act on fans’ concerns

-

RICHARD Masters has been urged to act on Newcastle United supporters’ concerns ‘as a matter of priority’ and Blaydon MP Liz Twist believes fans are being ‘reasonable’ in ‘simply asking for transparency.’

Twist has been contacted by Newcastle supporters in her r constituency after The Newcastle Consortium Supporters Limited put together a template of a letter for fans to email to their local MPs.

The letter asks for MPs’ support in ‘seeking expedition and transparency of Newcastle United’s court case with the English Premier League to determine the owner’s right to sell his club to a willing buyer.’

Newcastle confirmed last month they have issued arbitration proceedings against the Premier League after the club’s proposed takeover fell through last summer and the Magpies are pressing for a ‘fair, full and timely hearing’. Twis Twist ( right) has written en to Ma Masters ( left), the P Premier League’s c chief executive, a and believes su supporters have ‘ev ‘every right to be appal appalled by the lack of transparency’ from the top flight.

She said: “Further to my previous letter in relation to Newcastle United Football Club, , I have again received a huge amount of correspondence from fans of the club in my constituency.

“Fans are feeling deeply frustrated by the way their team is yet again being treated by the Premier League and I urge you to act on their concerns as a matter of priority.

“As you are aware, NUFC have a strong strong, loyal and committed fan fanbase who are extremely d disappointed at the lack of c courtesy and respect they h have been shown th throughout this ongoing sag saga.

‘Th ‘They are simply asking for transparency and, in the interest of fair play, I think this is not only reasonable but also right and proper.”

Twist passed on the letter she received from fans and asked for “urgent action.”
