Top day for Delaval

Seaton to the four as Chemfica defeated

SEATON Delaval leapfrogge­d Newcastle Chemfica to move into fourth place in the Premier Division after a comfortabl­e 4-1 home win over Alnwick Town.

Chemfica, meanwhile, fell to a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle Blue Star.

At Delaval, Alexander Henderson netted twice after Kai Slinn had opened the scoring early on, Kieran Hogg also netting while Jonathon Coaley replied for Town.

Blue Star collected a muchneeded three points at the opposite end of the table when they won at Chemfica, Andrew Bulford with the opener midway through the second half and Lewis Colley then wrapping up proceeding­s.

Percy Main were held to a 2-2 draw by visitors North Shields Athletic, for whom Matty Slee netted twice.

James Walker and Michael Begbie registered for the hosts.

Gateshead Rutherford were involved in a high-scoring exit from the Durham FA Trophy, losing 6-5 to Wearside League high-fliers Horden CW despite strikes from Callum Moore (2), Michael Watson (2) and Steven Hall.

PRUDHOE Youth Club and Haltwhistl­e Jubilee hit the goals trail as the battle at the top of Division One hots up.

Leaders Prudhoe claimed a 5-1 home victory over Seaton Burn as Danny Driver notched a brace alongside efforts from Ben Milner, Brad Rodgers and Craig Fairley, Mark Mackie replying.

Second-placed Jubilee triumphed 6-3 at Wallsend Boys Club. Jack Barker notched twice for the victors along with goals from Arron Hardy, Greg Irwin, James Charteries and Daniel Kirkup, while the hosts struck through Joseph Harvey, Connor Prince and Sean Caffrey.

Cramlingto­n United kept within touching distance when they saw off Bedlington 5-2.

Whitley Bay Sporting Club were 3-0 winners at Gosforth Bohemians thanks to Tom Atkinson and George Pickford (2), while Red Row Welfare won 2-0 at Forest Hall.

Hebburn Town Under-23s continued their defence of the Durham FA Minor Cup with a comfortabl­e 4-0 victory at Sunderland Doxford Park.

David Loch, Dominic Solman, Jordan Stephenson and Daniel Maddison were the men on target.

A BRACE from Andy Hall helped Division Two leaders Newcastle Independen­t maintain their threepoint cushion as they saw off visitors Stobswood Welfare 5-1.

Stewart Wright, Lewis Shorrock, and Alfie Simpson also scored, while Dillon McGill replied.

AFC Newbiggin were held to a 1-1 draw by Willington Quay Saints.

Stephen Lucas opened the scoring for Newbiggin before Brandon Williams levelled.

■ NEWBIGGIN Central and Newcastle East End Reserves drew 3-3 in Division Three.

A Craig Penman brace saw Gosforth Bohemians Reserves move up to sixth with a 2-1 win at Wooler and Blyth Town Under-23s won 4-0 at Morpeth Town Reserves as Martyn Hepple, Adam Scott, Ellis Logan and Carl Hetheringt­on all netted.
