A DRUNK thug threatened to ‘slice up’ and kill his partner’s stepdad during an argument over the phone.

Police witnessed Karl Kildare make the threat after they were called to a disturbance at his mother’s address in Walker, Newcastle.

The 23-year-old was seen shouting, swearing and pacing around the house before making the phone call to his girlfriend and telling her “You know what it is?

“I’m going to kill your f****** stepdad, I’m going to slice your stepdad right up. You listening? Your stepdad is dead”.

North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court heard that the officers who heard the call immediately arrested Kildare but he continued to be aggressive.

Kildare, of Southern Street, in Walker, has now been fined after he pleaded guilty to a malicious communications offence.

Grace Taylor, prosecuting, said police were called to Kildare’s mother’s home on June 24 this year after reports of a disturbance.

“The information passed to the officers was that there was a male in the address shouting and screaming and very intoxicated,” Miss Taylor continued.

“Upon arrival at the address, there was a female there and the defendant. He was heard upstairs in the address shouting and swearing.

“The front door of the property was locked but officers could communicate with the female in the property, which was the defendant’s mother, through a window.”

The court heard that Kildare then came downstairs but refused to open the door and continued to “shout and pace around” the room.

Miss Taylor added: “Police could then hear the defendant on the phone saying “You know what it is? I’m going to kill your f****** stepdad, I’m going to slice your stepdad right up. You listening?

Your stepdad is dead”.”

Magistrates heard that Kildare, who has two previous convictions, was arrested but continued to be aggressive.

John Graham, defending, said Kildare had only ever been in trouble with the courts as a youth and had acted “out-of-character” on the night in question.

The solicitor added: “He had an argument with his girlfriend. She was not in the property, she was on the phone. It was a threat to her stepdad after an argument they had during lockdown.

“He was struggling during lockdown.”

Magistrates fined Kildare £120 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge
