Spenny’s Hereford clash called off due to double Covid outbreak

- By MARK CARRUTHERS

SPENNYMOOR Town’s fixture against Hereford was postponed after individuals at both clubs tested positive for Covid-19.

The National League North rivals were set to meet at Brewery Field last night as they looked to continue their push for a play-off place in step two of the non-league pyramid.

However, yesterday brought confirmation that the fixture had been postponed for a second time. No date has been confirmed yet for when the fixture will instead take place.

The Moors were set to host the Edgar Street club back in October but the game was called off less than two hours before kick-off after a visitors players returned a positive test.

Brewery Field has been closed for deep cleaning and that any fans that paid to watch their live stream will be refunded within the next 10 days.

The statement read: “Tonight’s scheduled fixture against Hereford FC has been postponed for after representatives of both clubs tested positive for coronavirus.”

It went on: “Both Hereford and Spennymoor are dealing with positive

Covid tests and The Brewery Field has been closed today for deep cleaning.

“The decision has been made by both clubs in agreement with the National League.

“All streaming pass purchases for the game will be refunded in full. This will be processed today and funds will show in customers’ bank accounts within 10 working days.

“News on the rearranged date will be communicated as soon as agreed.”
