A message from the editor

Dear Chronicle readers,

Firstly, thank you for spending your time and money on today’s Chronicle. It is very much appreciated by me and my team of dedicated journalists. For more than 160 years we have worked hard to publish a newspaper which informs, inspires and entertains our readers as the voice of Tyneside.

We publish a wide range of local news, what’s on and sport stories every day in the Chronicle. We believe we offer something for everyone, and that starts with YOU. We believe in our readers, and in turn we hope that our readers believe in us too.

As well as reporting on the North East, we are also very much part of it. Our news reporting, print production and commercial teams live here; we shop in the same high streets; we support the same football teams; we visit the same beaches; our children attend the same schools.

In the current coronavirus crisis, our newsroom has pulled together to work tirelessly from our homes to provide a vital public service as we deliver comprehensive, responsible coverage of coronavirus and everything else happening in the region. We’re also regularly shining a light on the brilliant community work going on as the North East pulls together to get through this.
