ROSIE Ramsey has heaped praise on the “impeccable staff” at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary after she gave birth to baby son Rafe there last week.

Award-winning podcast star Rosie, wife of comedian and TV host Chris, announced the birth of the couple’s new baby via Instagram on Thursday.

Sharing a picture of the little lad, the South Shields star wrote: “This is Rafe Ramsey. Born yesterday afternoon weighing 9lbs 1oz.

“He is absolutely wonderful and looks exactly like his brother like, it’s uncanny!”

Now Rosie has thanked the staff who looked after her at the RVI for being amazing, especially when Chris had to leave the hospital a few hours following Rafe’s birth due to COVID restrictions.

She said: “I wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation and gratitude for all the staff at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

“Truth be told I was rather nervous about having a baby during a global pandemic.

“Not something I ever thought would happen if I am totally honest but the staff were impeccable.

“From the surgeons who delivered my baby, to the anaesthetist who calmed me every step of the way, to the midwifes who made sure I was healing ok, to the nursery nurses who helped me and supported me in my breastfeeding mission and to the gorgeous ladies who took my blood pressure and brought me coffee and toast with a beaming smile.”

Opening up about how reassuring they were after her husband had to leave her side, Rosie added: “I never once felt scared or alone.

“Yes, Chris had to leave two hours after Rafe was born, which was extremely difficult - but the ladies on the maternity ward reassured me they were there and they couldn’t have been more caring and helpful.

“I can honestly say the only thing which made me remember there was a pandemic was that they were wearing masks!.

“Other than that I completely forgot!”

Offering assurances to expectant mams out there, Rosie went on: “So, if you are due to go into hospital soon to have your baby rest assured the staff will look after you.

“They are currently under immense pressure and I am so grateful that they managed to make me feel completely at ease.”
