Tonight’s TV
CHURCHILL Channel 5, 9pm
This major six-parter explores the man behind the myth of Sir Winston Churchill, right, a figure known mostly as the leader with the bulldog spirit.
Britain’s most iconic prime minister, he was for many a great war hero, but this explores the more complex and controversial figure.
Family members, experts and close friends speak honestly about Churchill’s aristocratic upbringing and troubled relationship with his father, his formative years in the military, his battles for political power, his depression, his dogged wartime leadership and his determination to create a lasting legacy.
With rarely seen footage, newly restored archive and personal photographs, it’s an intimate and revealing portrait.
DRAWERS OFF Channel 4, 5.30pm
This is the show that puts artists front and centre in a life drawing class like no other.
Comedian Jenny
Eclair, right, is the enthusiastic host, always ready with a saucy innuendo as amateur artists strip off for each other in the life drawing class to win cash.
This is the final episode, following a week that has seen contestants Stew, Husna, Glenn, Amanda and Dave all vying for their art to be hung on the gallery wall. So far, Husna and Glenn have each notched up two wins, and it’s all to play for for the final spot.
This time, 42-year-old folk singer Stew will be striking a pose. As the others prepare to paint him like one of their French girls, who will have a brush with disaster and who will take the crown?
