EAST YORKSHIRE: LIVE, WORK AND PLAY IN A SECRET CORNER OF GOD’S OWN COUNTRY

-

A new year beckons. Time to think about your future. And where better than city, country and coast - all on your doorstep... Ready for a big change? If you’re thinking about a new start, and a fresh, exciting challenge, there’s somewhere you might not have considered that’s got everything you could ever want.

Hull and East Yorkshire are currently looking for people to work (and study) all over the region, across a wide range of health and social care professions.

Let’s take a closer look at the ‘self-effacing’ place where more and more people are choosing to live, work, study and play.

So where exactly is East Yorkshire?

Welcome to ‘frontier country’, on the patch of land between the northern shore of the Humber Estuary and the rugged east coast of England.

We’re slap bang in the centre of the country - about halfway between Edinburgh and London.

So if you think about it, it’s almost the perfect location.

Far enough to make a fresh start, close enough to everywhere familiar. The best of all worlds, we like to think. Coast, countryside, cobbled streets

With Hull at its core, East Yorkshire is a place shaped by the tides and the seasons. We’re minutes from a rugged coastline brimming with quaint villages, historic towns and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Rough Guides recently rated the region one of the top ten tourist destinations in the world. How’s that for a place to reboot?

Daring to be different

Hull’s never looked, felt or sounded better.

Stroll by the fountains in Queen Victoria Square, through to the Italian-style plaza surrounding Hull Minster, before entering the revitalised Fruit Market - once a collection of derelict warehouses, and now ripe with brand-new bars, art galleries and gig venues. All this by Hull Marina, which rekindles the bohemian charm of the Baltic capitals across the North Sea.

Cold? That depends...

Here’s the forecast: a warm welcome, Monday to Sunday. A nod, a smile, a chat at the bus stop. You’ll find it all here.

A 2016 survey said Hull was the UK’s second friendliest city. Whoever came first must’ve been faking it!

The whole region has always been a place with a unique, and occasionally peculiar, identity.

It’s about warmth, honesty, openness, spirit, resilience and an instinctive flavour for understatement.

Rest assured, you’ll be welcomed with open arms. Well, we might start by saying, “Alright?”

But that means a lot around here. You’ll see. Doesn’t add up? It does, here

Craving city life and lights? Longing for peace and quiet in the countryside? Or seeking sea air and sandy beaches? It’s all here. Better still, a detached house near good schools, great bars, culture, country and coast is around £200,000 here – often less. Wherever you live, the rest is still close by. So whichever way you look at it, you’re choosing a better (and much more affordable) life.

Come and join us

Well connected and almost ridiculously ‘affordable’, East Yorkshire is a warm and wonderful, green and gorgeous, distinctive and diverse place ready to welcome you with open arms.

Come and shape a place where more and more people are choosing to live, work, study and play.
