Toon fan’s TV controller prank gets million hits
JOKER TAKES TV REMOTE TO STADIUM AND FILMS REACTIONS
WHEN Luke Ryan decided to play a little practical joke on his fellow Newcastle United fans, he had no idea how far it would go.
The 32-year-old from Durham took a normal TV remote to St James’ Park on Monday when he attended the Magpies’ home game against Manchester United.
To his delight, the remote worked on the TVs dotted around the concourse, and Luke’s videos of fans reacting as the TVs are unexpectedly switched off makes for hilarious viewing.
In fact, the minutelong clip has been viewed more than one million times on Twitter under Luke’s handle LukeRyan22.
Luke has been amazed at the reaction to his prank since posting the video on Tuesday evening. He said: “My phone has never stopped ringing. It’s been crazy.
“I’ve always been a bit of a prankster and I’ve obviously been to games before. I took the controller with me to see if it would work. It’s just a standard LG TV remote.
“I took it just to chance it, I’d never seen it done before. I just wanted to be a bit of a clown but I never expected it to go as big as it has. The response has been outrageous.”
Luke chose the funniest reactions to his antics to put in the video, but there are many more that didn’t make it online.
Despite that, he managed to remain unseen throughout the prank.
He added: “My favourite one is the guy by himself who was so into it and his reaction was priceless.
“They were the best ones, there are more but I was doing a reel so I picked the ones that were short and sweet.
“Nobody noticed – the secret was safe, but not so much now! I think I could have still been doing it now and nobody would have noticed.”
