Brady is pick of the bunch to replace PM

-

WHILE Boris Johnson flounders and struggles to find his feet, many question his ability to retain the top job in Westminster where his recent multifarious nosedives have considerably reduced his ratings - but sadly, so many cannot see a satisfactory successor.

One prominent figure being touted by backbenchers as a popular replacement is Sir Graham Brady, MP for Altrincham and Sale West since 1997 and chairman of the 1922 backbench Committee for more than 10 years.

He is unsullied by Covid policy, has frequently questioned the Conservative party scandal and has long been a thorn in Boris’s flesh.

It is overwhelmingly felt a clean-break candidate from outside a lacklustre cabinet is sorely needed to run for No 10.

Several who have recently sat around the long cabinet table in Downing Street will need to explain if they knew about the Christmas parties - and if so, why they did notresign.

There are many prominent Brady supporters who extol his enormous respect on the floor of the House of Commons but bookies’ favourites from the current cabinet crop are Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.

It has been estimated in a recent poll Boris Johnson would lose his Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat but sadly the weakkneed Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer could secure a 26-seat majority.

Whether Boris presides over further draconian Omicron restrictions will not prevent the spread of the virus but only devastate lives and livelihoods.

The Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, pleads that places of worship must remain open - but unless Boris gets the pieces of his jigsaw together he may need divine intervention to survive!
