Police appeal to identify man successful
POLICE have now identified a man following an appeal after a woman was sexually assaulted in a Newcastle nightclub in September.
A 23-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man who then grabbed her in a sexual manner without her consent.
It happened at around 1.25am on Saturday, September 25, in the smoking area of Livello nightclub and bar on Dean Street.
The victim reported what happened to police and an investigation was launched in a bid to find the culprit.
Police released the image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police previously said: “Police investigating a report of a sexual assault in Newcastle have issued the image of a male they would like to speak to.
“It was reported that at around 1.25am on Saturday, September 25, a woman had been in the smoking area of Livello in Newcastle, when she was approached by an unknown male who has then grabbed her in a sexual manner without her consent.
“The 23-year-old victim was left distressed by the incident and reported it to Northumbria Police.
“An investigation was launched, and a number of enquiries have been ongoing, including a review of CCTV. Officers have released the image of a male they would like to speak to in connection with the incident. He was in the area at the time and it’s believed he may have information which can assist. The male, anyone who knows him, or who thinks they have information is asked to contact police by using the Tell us Something page or by quoting crime reference 106637K/21.”
