A VISIT to Newcastle cabaret Boulevard is always a night to remember and one North Tyneside mum definitely won’t be forgetting it anytime soon.

Kay Moses from Wideopen was on a Christmas night out at Boulevard with her Ikea colleagues when she decided to enter the show’s charity raffle for Macmillan.

The 57-year-old forgot all about entering until she got a call from Dan Cunningham, Boulevard’s compere Miss Rory, telling her she had won a holiday to Palma.

The three-night break, donated by Now Lets Travel – Jesmond Holiday Bureau, would have delighted any lucky winner, but it meant even more to Kay, who is in remission after battling bilateral breast cancer.

The mum-of-one was diagnosed in July 2019 during a routine mammogram and underwent a mastectomy, lumpectomy and had lymph nodes removed, as well as undergoing radiotherapy.

“I didn’t have any of the usual signs, no lumps or bumps, it was purely from a routine mammogram,” she said.

“That’s why I think it’s really important that all women go and get checked out.

“Whether they are worried or not, they should definitely go.”

During her treatment, Kay was cared for by Macmillan, making the raffle, which raised £20,000 for the charity, even more poignant.

Kay, who is mum to son, Charlie, 21, continued: “Macmillan were absolutely wonderful the whole way.

“I had fabulous nurses who looked after us all. I can’t thank them enough, they really do make a massive difference.”

Kay is now fit and well and looking forward to her holiday in April with her husband Ian Moses, 58.

“I am absolutely over the moon,” she said.

“It was a total surprise, I really didn’t expect it.

“Palma is one of our favourite places to go. We are really excited.”

Amanda Simmonds, who owns Now Lets Travel – Jesmond Holiday Bureau, was delighted to hand over the holiday tickets to Kay.

“Boulevard approached us and asked if we would be able to help with a present for the show to raise funds for Macmillan,” she said.

“Kay is such as deserving winner and has booked her holiday for April with her husband.”
