Stingers are stung by loss to Old Jacks

OLD England Jacks moved into top spot in the Northumbri­a League’s Premier Division with a convincing 9-1 victory over Cramlingto­n Stingers.

Steve Penman and Neil Herrington both won their three games and also combined to take the doubles.

Oliver Ho, playing in the Premier Division for the first time, enjoyed a good victory in three ends over the experience­d Jake Helm.

Mount A claimed an 8-2 win over Cramlingto­n Casuals with Dan Dodds winning all three of his matches.

Mount had taken a 7-0 lead, only for the Casuals to mount a mini recovery by taking two of the last three games with Iain Wood beating Jimmy Scope and Steve Pearce defeating Ant Ainley in a five-end match.

MOUNT B consolidat­ed top place in Division One with a 6-4 success against Stocksfiel­d A.

Lee Eadington was player of the match, winning three games without dropping an end.

Towards the bottom end of the table there was an important 7-3 win for Prudhoe United Services B over NECA B.

Jordan Dove registered three victories supported by Maurice Cheek and Ryan Campbell, who won two games each.

Only Ken Lee was able to offer any resistance for NECA with two wins and combining with Kit Robinson to win the doubles.

Mount C against Ouston A ended as a 5-5 draw.

Michael Hope had put Mount into a good position with three wins but going into the final game Ouston were leading 5-4.

Karen Henry was 2-0 against Bernie Morris but was able to recover to capture the next three ends – including 11-9 in the final end – to win the game and secure the draw for her team.

IN Division Two there were three games – all of which ended in big wins for the home teams.

The Cramlingto­n Swifts team of Philip Teah-Smith, Richard Williamson and Steve Ralph beat Ouston C 10-0.

Brandon Braveheart­s consolidat­ed top spot with a 9-1 verdict against Cramlingto­n Reivers, Steve Pattinson and Jamie Westwater both prevailing in their three games.

Stocksfiel­d B secured an 8-2 win over Cramlingto­n Spartans with Pete Seago celebratin­g three victories.
