Magpies submit a bid for Badiashile

MONACO young gun Benoit Badiashile has been the subject of a fresh bid from Newcastle United.

An initial offer of €40million was turned down by Monaco for the 20-year-old but reports in France have suggested the Magpies will go back for another attempt.

Newcastle have been chasing Diego Carlos of Sevilla for two weeks with that deal still very much ongoing.

Badiashile, however, is currently injured and ruled out until the end of next month with a hamstring injury so Newcastle are hardly racing to get this deal done in time for the weekend.

However, the arrival of Badiashile would underline Newcastle’s vision for the future in terms of recruiting younger players. Newcastle United made Ousmane Dembele an offer this week, according to sources close to the player. Dembele’s representatives stated Newcastle were on a list of clubs waiting to see the winger’s next move.

The former Borussia Dortmund star, who joined Barca for £135million in 2017, finds himself caught up an intense contract row at the Catalan club.

Having been handed an ultimatum by his boss Xavi, his agent Moussa Sissoko has stated they will be prepared to sit in the stands and wait until the summer for a free transfer if needs be.

Xavi said: “If he does not renew, we must find a solution.

“We can not wait any longer. Either he renews or a solution is found.”

Sissoko, the namesake of the former Newcastle player, said: “The truth must be told.

“Yes we have demanding demands but we have already shown Ousmane’s career choices are not dictated by money, otherwise he would not be here.” With interest from Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester United, Dembele has plenty of other options.

Meanwhile, Burnley’s resolve has strengthened after the wounding exit of Chris Wood.

The Lancashire club are doubly determined not to sell James Tarkowski this month after Wood’s £25million move to United.

With Burnley still in the thick of the relegation battle, losing Tarkowski now would hand Newcastle another big advantage in the battle against the drop.

Even the prospect of a big fee would not help Burnley too much when it comes to their overall battle to stay up as time is running out to reinvest.

They also have to pay Brentford 27% of any future sell-on fee.
