THE top-of-the-table clash in Division One of the Northumbri­a Summer League between Cramlingto­n Casuals and St Chads ended in a 5-5 draw.

Keith Weatherby was player of the match for St Chads, beating James Bradbury, Oliver Ho and Gareth Pearson.

However, two wins each for Ho and Bradbury against Charlotte Weatherby and Dave Bissett and one for Pearson enabled the Casuals to draw the match.

Prudhoe proved too strong for Mount B as they prevailed 8-2 with Mark O’Connor and Andrew Firth both taking three games.

The points for Mount came courtesy of wins by Rob Lawson and Shirley Gelder over Peter Stempczyk.

The match between Mount A and Old England ended in a 6-4 success for Mount A thanks to two wins for Steve Penman, Lee Eadington and Jimmy Scope.

Player of the match went to Old England’s Neil Herrington who won three matches including a close clash against Steve Penman, where he clinched the final two ends to recover from 2-1 down.

■DIVISION Two leaders Brandon Anacondas went down to a 7-3 defeat to Tyneside.

The Tyneside team of Mark Kimberley, James Robertson and Chas Robertson won two games each.

Second-placed Mount C were not able to capitalise, however, as they lost 6-4 to Cramlingto­n Swifts,

The match had been evenly poised at 4-4 but wins for Philip Teah-Smith over Michael Bradley and Rob Lee over Gary Anderson secured the points for the Swifts.

In another close game, Harry Veitch was player of the match for Durham City Scorpions.

He claimed three matches against Will McCallum, Ken Lee and Jamie Collins to help secure a 6-4 result against NECA A.

■THE Division Three match between Backspin A and Stocksfiel­d A was a tight affair but at 4-4 Stocksfiel­d A took the last two matches to triumph 6-4.

Stephen Oxley was player of the match with three wins, including a five-end game against John Cook which he won 11-9 in the fifth end.

■IN Division Four, Cramlingto­n Cobras proved too strong for a depleted Backspin C as they sealed an 8-2 victory.
