Release of new season tickets

-

NEWCASTLE United have confirmed a limited number of season tickets have been released to fans for the new 2022/23 Premier League season - but there’s a catch.

United have announced that due to “unprecedented levels” of renewals from existing season ticket holders, any supporters who have bought a season ticket, single match ticket or membership since July 1, 2019, will be eligible for the fresh release - which the Chronicle understands is 1,000 tickets.

Additional tickets have also been made available for disabled supporters.

The club have had to hold back five per cent of match day tickets to comply with current rules, and have also consulted with the NUFC Trust.

While a number of fans will welcome the opportunity to see Eddie Howe’s side in action during the club’s first full season under new ownership, the criteria for applying for the latest batch of tickets - which go on sale online at 10am on June 28th - may cause some debate.

The 1 July 2019 cut-off date will exclude any fans who held season tickets for decades and may have cancelled at any point up to June 30 of that year in protest over Mike Ashley’s controversial ownership of the club.

Meanwhile, the latest release will only allow one season ticket to be bought per supporter number - which could cause issues if fans want to sit with friends or relatives.

The issue of one season ticket per supporter will also be an issue for fans hoping to secure seats with a friend or relative.

In some instances fans have purchased more than one match ticket via a single membership, under the new policy they will only be able to purchase a single season ticket.
